Choking on the circumstance. A way to rediscover the voice lost years ago. Being called "too sensitive" wasn’t a flaw—it was self-protection. But it was their lyrics that grabbed me — they reflect so much of my own life as a highly sensitive senior gay man.

Before I go further, though, let me introduce myself. Growing up straight would have been difficult in the circumstances; being gay on top of it was just too much for me. Males using this strategy protect and support their family, the mother and children, in various ways, depending on the species.
But research shows that sensitive individuals do protect and support themselves and others differently. But seriously, people call us sensitive because we want respect when they are the ones who actively feel like everything is their business and they should comment on everything going on in another person's life.
How does it affect them if someone is gay?. Thus, I turned to conservative religion as a way to overcome my desires and suffered through close-toyears of further self-condemnation, guilt, and shame. If you’ve ever been told you’re “too sensitive,” it may be because you’re an HSP — in other words, a highly sensitive person.
Like, how does it affect them if someone is trans? Being gay and out was unheard of at the time and I learned to sublimate my feelings quickly after seeing how more effeminate classmates were treated. It seems as if the least bit of conflict causes my internal Choker to make himself known once again.
The last line of the quote at the beginning of this post describes this person as never doing anything for themselves — they wait for others to act and then they satisfy themselves with the leftover byproduct. This toxic masculinity views gender roles as binary with no grey.

So HSMs, just by being males, are protectors and supporters. This has been the role model for centuries with its characteristics of violence and aggression, stoicism, risk-taking, emotional suppression, lack of empathy, competitiveness and subjugation of women, gays, and people of color.
